Gustavo J. Bobonis is Professor in the Department of Economics and the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in the Political Economy of Development. His research focuses on the socioeconomic and political determinants of human development in low and middle-income countries; his agenda lies at the intersection of the fields of development economics, labour and household economics, and political economy. He has published in distinguished academic journals including the American Economic Review and the Journal of Political Economy. He has also served as a consultant for a variety of multilateral institutions, such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and CAF-the Development Bank of Latin America, among others. He has held visiting appointments at Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Bobonis received his BA in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico, and his PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. |
