Javier Birchenall is an Associate Professor in the Economics Department at University of California at Santa Barbara. His main areas of specialization include Economic Growth and Development, Population Economics, and Macroeconomics. His recent research focuses on the long-term effects of population growth and disease, the effects of family size on the intrahousehold distribution of education, unemployment and labor market mismatch, and aggregation theory. Birchenall holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago, an MA from Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia), and a BA degree in Economics from Universidad Javeriana (Colombia). |
