Mariano Tommasi (PhD in Economics, University of Chicago, 1991) is Associate Professor for the Department of Economics at Universidad de San Andres and Director for the Centro de Estudios para el Desarrollo Institucional, both in Argentina. His area of expertise is political economy and institutional economics, mainly for developing countries. He has published a number of books and papers in journals such as American Economic Review, American Journal of Political Science, American Political Science Review, Journal of Decelopment Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, International Econoic Review, Economics and Politics, Journal of Policy Reform, Economic Inquiry, Journal of International Economics and Journal of Law, Economics and Organization.
He has been a Visiting Professor at the Department of Economics and Political Science of Yale, Robert F. Kennedy; Visiting Professor of Latin American Studies at the Economics Department of the Harvard University; Visiting Professor and researcher at the University of Tel Aviv; and Professor at the Economics Department in the Business School of Economics of the University of California-Los Angeles. President (2004-2005) of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association. He has been counselor of several governments in Latin America, and of international organizations such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. |
